The EUROCONTROL Message Processor (EMP), designed by RLM Software, was successfully launched on August 22, 2007. As part of the FAA's mission-critical Enhanced Traffic Management System (ETMS), EMP will facilitate communication between ETMS and EUROCONTROL's Enhanced Tactical Flow Management System (ETFMS). This important data exchange development will yield more accurate predictions of flight arrivals at U.S. airports. Future phases of the EUROCONTROL data exchange will provide tools to reduce air traffic congestion and increase air system capacity, resulting in the FAA's ultimate goal of more efficient air traffic flow management in North America.
