The Air Force Automated Aircraft Movement Data System (AAMDS) supports the identification and monitoring of air traffic for the US Air Force North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
RLM is responsible for the US Air Force AAMDS System, a reduced-functionality replication of ETMS modified for the Air Force. Responsibilities for this system include all major aspects of software development and operational support. Although AAMDS is a smaller, more centralized operation with fewer users than ETMS, support of it requires comprehensive understanding of the entire ETMS system.
RLM personnel have served as technical liaisons to NORAD US Air Force personnel. The RLM team has also designed and implemented many critical enhancements to AAMDS that have improved its data reliability, including support of beacon code messages, elimination of waypoint ETA out-of-order data and improvement in the acceptance rate of route message data.
Additionally, RLM has been involved in analyzing and modeling proposed AAMDS enhancements to determine their potential value to the system and has developed comprehensive testing and requirements documents for AAMDS.
