Technical Review
The Challenge:
Evaluate Traffic Flow Management Modernization designs and processes are fundamentally sound and complete, and to propose more efficient or alternative solutions where applicable
Our Solution:
- During the review of the flight trajectory algorithm, RLM discovered that the airport initial altitude was an assumed constant, and not a modeled value
- Changing the algorithm to include the initial altitude as a modeled value dramatically improved the accuracy on climb times for high altitude airports such as Denver
- Reduced the calculated time by approximately 30 seconds, where a variance of 5 to 10 seconds is considered significant
